As residents in Kogi Central Senatorial district ponder over the resurgence of crime in the area in recent time, a staff of the Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA), booster station,Okene,Chukwu Odiahu, has allegedly been killed in Okene, headquarters of Okene Local Governnent Area of the state.

Sources told our Correspondent that the deceased, who worked at the Department of Engineering of the booster station, was stoned to death on Tuesday evening by unknown assailants, after he closed from work.

The online publication further gathered that what could have been the reason for Odiahu’s attack and death remained sketchy as at the time of this report, all the staff of the booster station on duty with the deceased at that period had been arrested for interrogation at the Divisional Office of the Nigeria Police, Okene.

A staff of the booster station, who begged for anonymity, described the reality of the gruesome murder of Odiahu as “most unfortunate.”

According to the staff, at the closure of transmission around 10p.m on Tuesday, the late Odiahu left the office premises but that he was shock to learn of his tragic death the following morning.

The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state,DSP William Aya, confirmed the story in a telephone interview with The Reporters’correspondent in Lokoja Wednesday evening.

“Immediately the information got to the command, we quickly mobilised some of our personnel to the scene of the incident.

“Our men conveyed the remains of the deceased to the hospital for autopsy while the command has commenced investigation into the matter, with a view to arresting the suspects and let them face Justice in court,” he said.
