Realising that some criminals in Nigeria use public transport as canopy to launder money,the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has called on Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) to support the anti-corruption crusade of the commission to stop the illegal activity.
Mr Usman Muktar,head of the kwara state zonal office of the EFCC,made the call on Monday during the sensitisation campaign on the ills of corruption at the Association’s Secretariat in Ilorin.
Ayodele, who was represented by Babatunde,the Head,Public Affairs,EFCC,Ilorin Zonal Office, stressed the importance of a collective effort in executing the war against corruption in the country.
“The EFCC cannot fight corruption alone, we need your assistance in the area of creating awareness, in order for Nigerians to understand the effect of corruption on the society,” Muktar said.
He admonished the people to stop glorifying corrupt individuals but ensure that these individuals exhibit transparency and sincerity in their finances in their dealings with others in the society.
“I know corruption will fight back, but we must not allow corruption to kill Nigeria and in the end, we will win,” he added.
The State Chairman, RTEAN, Alhaji Abdulrahman Olayinka Onikijipa, expressed the commitment of the association to support EFCC achieve the desired success in the fight against corruption in the country.
The Reporters reports that Alhaji Abdullahi Gidado Oloje, Deputy Chairman Administration of the association and other high ranking officials of the association attended the occasion.
