June 12: Calm in kogi,kwara, Niger

The anxiety generated in Lokoja, kogi state capital over nation wide protest on June 12, notwithstanding, the state capital witnessed relative calm,The Reporters reports.

Our Correspondent who visited some strategic areas of Lokoja between 7 a.m and 9.30 a.m on Saturday reports that there was no sign of protest.

People were seen pursuing their ends in a peaceful manner.

However, the streets visited showed appreciable thin population in terms of human and vehicular movement as many decided to stay indoors.

Security forces were on patrol of the area, in motorcade with siren.

Similar atmosphere prevailed in Ilorin, the capital of the neighbouring kwara state.

He said.” Everywhere is peaceful, no protest in the state for now as security operatives are deployed to strategic places in the state to maintain law and order.”

Report reaching The Reporters also confirmed prevailing peace in Niger state.

Our correspondent in that state said”In Niger state, police, army, NSCDC and other paramilitary agencies have been on joint patrol along major roads/streets to ensure that there is no anti-June 12 protest in the state.”
