Sports minister makes appointments to boost Nigeria’s success in 2021 Tokyo

The Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, has appointed a general coordinator and media consultant as part of preparations for the National Trials toward the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.

The Director of Press and Public Relations, in the ministry, Mohammed Manga, stated this in a statement that Dare made the appointments on Monday in Abuja.

According to him, the appointments which take immediate effect, are part of concerted efforts being made by the Federal Government to ensure the success of the forthcoming global spotting event.

The minister appointed Mr Rotimi Obajimi, who was a former Technical Director, Athletics Federation of Nigeria and World Athletics Development Department Course, Director for coaching.

He was also the General Coordinator of Team Nigeria to the 2008 African Athletics Championship in Adis Ababa, Ethiopia and 2010 in Nairobi as well as the 2003 All Africa Games Performance Consultant.

Dare also announced the appointment of Mr Dare Esan, who is a veteran Sports journalist with special interest in Athletics who has covered the Olympics, FIFA World Cup and eight editions of the World Athletics Championship.

The minister added that at various times up to 2015,Esan was also a member of the World Athletics Media Study Group.

He has been the manager and editor of the Print Division at Complete Sports, Nigeria’s number one sports daily since 1995.
