Mr Pious Kolawole, the Chairman, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, who was kidnapped five days ago at Eruku, a boundary town between kogi state and Kwara state, has regain his freedom.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in kogi state,DSP William Aya,made the disclosure in an interview with the Correspondent of The Reporters in Lokoja on Thursday.
“The chairman was released in Kwara state, because the area where he was kidnapped falls within the jurisdiction of Kwara state and we were informed of his freedom few hours ago,” he said.
The online publication recalls that the car conveying kolawole and the Commissioner 1, Kogi State Pension Commission, Mr Solomon Akeweje from Ilorin to Kabba was riddled with kidnapoers’bullets during which Akeweje lost his life While the kidnappers led kolawole into the bush.
Though the kidnappers were said to have demanded N100 million for the to release of kolawole, Aya said he could not ascertain if any ransom was paid to secure the chairman’s freedom.
Our Correspondent gathered that kolawole has been reunited with his family.
