The Kidnappers that killed Mr Solomon Adebayo,a Commissioner in the Kogi State Pension Commission, also known as as Akeweje felt bad killing him and tendered apology.
The Reporters recalls that Akeweje was killed by the kidnappers when they waylaid him and the Chairman, Yagba West Local Government Area of the Kogi state, five days at Eruku, a town between kogi state and Kwara state.
Kolawole made the disclosure in Egbe when he paid condolence visit to the family of the deceased on Thursday.
He added that the kidnappers apologised to him for the killing of the Pencom commissioner, telling him that Solomon’s death was a minus to them as well because they would have received more ransom if he were to be alive, adding that their mission was not to kill but make money.
The chairman, who was kidnapped last Saturday but regained freedom on Wednesday night and has since reunited with his family, said he was surprised that the kidnappers knew much about him much, given their knowledge of him and what they were telling him about his personality
He said early in the morning of Saturday, while moving to Ilorin, they saw some vigilantees from Kwara state at an abandoned military checkpoint and on inquiring, they were told that some armed robbers had early robbed at the scene.
The development, he said, prompted him to quickly call the vigilantees from his council area to come to the place, adding that upon their to home, they sighted the kidnappers.
“Our initial thought was that it must have been the same vigilantees group in the morning that were there; not until we got there and heard gunshot from behind. Then those whom we thought were vigilantees turned out to be our abductors.
“Our police Orderly immediately engaged them in a shot out, but when it was obvious that they were more than him, he dashed into the bush to escape,”he said.
The chairman said the State pension commissioner was hit by the exchange of gunshot between the kidnappers and the police Orderly,
“I just heard him (Solomon) saying “what kind of thing is this, what kind of things is this,”he further narrated.
The chairman said that stained by the blood of pension commissioner,he pretended to be dead, but was surprised when one of the kidnappers tapped him and said, “Follow us, nothing do you.”
The chairman said he was surrounded in the bush by 10 of the kidnappers, nine of who were armed with gun, while the one without gun controlled activities in the bush.
