Police arrest 2 suspects for allegedly attacking journalist in kogi

The Police Command in Kogi state says two suspects have been cooling it off in its custody for allegedly attacking an investigative journalist, Mr Olatunde Odimayo, attached to Grace FM, Lokoja, a privately owned radio station

The Police Public Relations Officer,(PPRO), for the command in the state, DSP.William Ovye Aya, disclosed this when an NGO, Initiative For Grassroot Advancement, (INGRA), paid him a courtesy visit at the command’s headquarters in Lokoja.

He assured the public that the police were working round the clock to arrest all the suspects behind the attack and make them face prosecution.

Our Correspondent recalls that Odimayo was physically attacked last week by some people suspected to be hoodlums, who accused him of airing a story on the sale and consumption of substances suspected to be Indian hemp in a brothel in the heart of Lokoja.

The suspects were qouted by sources as saying that the story had slowed down their illicit business, the development they said necessitated the merciless beating they meted out to Odimayo who have seek treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state.
