God, good Nigerians save me from death—-Journalist

The head of the News Department, Grace FM,a private radio station in Lokoja, kogi state Mr Olatunji Odimayo says the quick intervention of good Nigerians saved him from the hands of suspected criminals who wanted to snuff life out of him for dare to report the activities of Indian hemp dealers in Lokoja.

Odimayo, who spoke with the Correspondent of The Reporters on Saturday in Lokoja, through telephone, from an undisclosed hospital where he is responding to treatment, said he was attacked within the vicinity of Cemetery road, Lokoja in the day time.

“I thank God almighty who sent some good Nigerians that came to my rescue during my ordeal in the hands of my attackers.

“According to them, they said they attacked me because I reported the activities of Indian hemp dealers in Lokoja.

“The police have stepped into the matter with a view to apprehending the perpetrators to ensure justice.

Also speaking with our Correspondent, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists,(NUJ), Kogi State Council, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh also condemned the development.

Momohjimoh, who spoke from Asaba in an interview with our correspondent, where he is attention the National Executive Council meeting of NUJ, described the behaviour of the attackers as dastard and called on the police to arrest the perpetrators for justice to take its cause.

He said such would serve as deterrent to others in the shoe of the attackers.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state, DSP, William Ovye Aya, who confirmed the attack in a statement assured that the police were on top of the situation to bring the culprits to book.
