The owner of a storey building located at Zone 8, junction, Army Barrack/General Hassana Katsina road, Lokoja, Kogi state, Mr John Shaibu, has threatened court action against Dangote Cement Company for destroying his properties and remaining adamant in replacing them.
Mr Shaibu, who disclosed this in an interview with the correspondent of The Reporters in Lokoja on Tuesday said a truck belonging to Dangote Cement Company, carrying coal from Okaba in Kogi state, to Obajana, on January 9,2021, while negotiating the junction swirved off the junction and hit the fence of his building.
He said:” In the process, the truck hit the concrete drainage of the road and ran into the wall fence of my building (a two-storey building).
“The truck destroyed the wall fence and four units of mobile toilets I displayed for hiring while the content of the truck littered my compound.
“Immidiately the event happened, I made it known to the management of Dangote Cement Company but to my greatest surprise, the company has not responded to my report.”
Mr Shaibu, a town planner, said the action of the company’s truck had caused him hardship as the development had also deprived him source of livelihood.
“For instance, before the destruction to the mobile toilets, I used to generate between N850,000 and N1.2 million from the property per month.
“Now that the company remains adamant to my report, I have no option than to seek redress in law court with a view to claiming damages,”he said.
Mr Shaibu called on the police command in the state to deplore traffic wardens to the junction to check the recklessness of some drivers as well as curb road accident.
He noted that a lot of drivers had indulged in reckless behaviour in the area, a development he noted had increased autocrash and the attendant loss of life and destruction to property.
