Residents of Lokoja, kogi state, most especially those of Gadumo/Ganaja, praying for a rescue from excessive heat and the quantum dust exuming from the reconstruction of the 17-kilomere Ganaja road had their supplication answered Saturday evening as the first but light rain, that lasted 15 minutes changed the the heat to cool atmosphere in the area.

A correspondent of The Reporters, an online publication, reports that the rain started at about 6.30 p.m, thus halting dust and checking heat, the two worrisome developments to most residents in the area.

“It is a thing of joy, especiafor those of us residing betweenGadumo and Ganaja as the rain halts, temporarily, the quantum dust we have been inhaling for the past three months due to reconstruction of our road.

“The respite, however short it is,is worth rejoicing over, not to talk of relief from the heat and dust tormenting us.

“As you can feel it now, we are having cool atmosphere as a result of the little rain. To me, it is a relief from the twin atmospheric challenges confronting us, especially the issue of dust in this area.

“We thank almighty Allah for the relief and pray that real rain sets in soon so that heat and dust can give way to the breathing of fresh air for all of us, Hajia Salamatu Mohammed, a Ganaja resident, told The Reporters in an interview.
