A frontline industrialist and politician in Anambra state, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, has promised to use sports tourism to speed up the development of the state.
He made the promise in a statement his media aide, Emmanuel Chukwuebuka in Awka and made available a copy to The Reporters on Friday.
Ezeemo described Sport tourism as a relatively new and ever increasing industry in the tourism industry, focusing on the target planning of developing states.
He expressed optimism “that sport tourism shall restructure the rural and urban communities from social and economic perspectives significantly in our state Anambra as we aim to reduce the ever alarming threats of youth unemployment and out declining economy.
“Seemingly, my plan in this scheme is to utilize this huge dimension in sport tourism to improve the individual’s life quality through tourist attraction and results in the economic welfare of the local communities in the state.
“Importantly, today, sport and tourism are concerned with the important economic activities in the developed and developing societies.
“I am determined to bring this massive Development and employment propeller down to Anambra state.
“This is is achievable as I have proven the realization of good hospitality in our rural area at Honeywell Hotel Umuchu, Aguata, Anambra state.
“So far as my plan is certain to take the full advantage available in the tourism and sports industries to spark job creation and massive economic development.
“More also, tourists will eventually become a chief source of income and employment for the population of ourĀ Communities. Then, sport tourism will be an effective tool to deal with poverty and unemployment and increase economic growth and social welfare of our communities.
“Moreover, sports tourism have a high multiplier effect, meaning they create more jobs in other occupations and industries,” he said.
