Residents of Gadumo quarters of Lokoja-Ganaja road, which is under reconstruction, have called on the construction firm reconstructing the road to resume work on time to hasten the job and save them from inhaling”terrible dust” that had become a threat to their health.

Some of the residents such as Mohammed Ahmed, Suleiman Shuiabu, Ocholi Usman and Miss Janet Ahmadu, who spoke with the correspondent of The Reporters, wondered why workers of the firm had not resumed work after festive season.

He argued that while the reconstruction of the road was the right thing to do by the government, the halt in the work by the firm with the attendant dust enveloping the are had left much be desired.

The residents, especially those whose houses are close to the road, complained of too much dust arising from the inability of the firm to wet the road and called on it to do something urgent about the problem.

” The workers of the firm left the road shortly before Yuletide, we thought that by now, they should have returned to site to complete the job on time. We are getting fed up and apprehensive too with the dust being generated from not writing the road and it relation to dust induced ailment to public health.

“Even if the workers cannot resume for now, due to one problem or the other, the firm should commence wetting the road, we tire and sick of inhaling poisonous dust which injurious to our health,” Shuaibu said.

The Reporters recalls that the reconstruction of the road commenced toward the tail of 2020,aimed at making the road, which has suffered serious dilapidationfor long, motorable.
