Gunmen again strike in Kogi, kill 2 naval personnel

Unidentified gunmen have attacked and killed two naval officers of at Check-point axis in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi state, according to Abdulmumin Abubakar, Special Adviser to the Chairman, Okene Local Government Area of the state.

The special adviser, who made disclosure in a statement he signed and a copy made available to The Reporters, an online publication in Lokoja on Thursday, further revealed that the officers, five in number, were attacked on Wednesday at about 7 p.m. at the point of resuming for duty.

“Two officers have been confirmed dead and two were injured and currently receiving treatment in hospital. One officer escaped unhurt,” he said.

Efforts by the online to reach the Navy could not yield the desired result.

The Reporters recalls that one Captain GSM Abubakr of the Nigerian Army,who was travelling with his family from Lagos to Abuja, was also killed on Okene-Lokoja highway by yet to be identified gunmen about three months ago.
