The Police Command in kogi state it is not resting on its oars until the Acting Eje of Ankpa, Alhaji Shuaibu Usman regains his freedom from his abductors,the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ayuba Ede assured while commenting on the development on Friday in Lokoja.
According to Edeh, the abductors,who had laid ambush at the Mosque for the monarch, zommed off immidiately with him to unknown destination.
Sources told The Reporters, an online publication, that the traditional ruler was Kidnapped at about 5 30a.m on Friday while entering the Mosque.
The Online publication also gathered the royal father’s abductors were yet to make any contact with his family as at the time of this report.
However, the police boss in the state said the Police had cordoned all entry and exit points in the state with the view to rescuing the traditional ruler.
Our correspondent reports that the abduction of the traditional has received wide condemnation from various segments of the society in the state.
The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Ankpa 1 Constituency, Ahmed Mohammed expressed great displeasure and condemnation over the issue, in a statement he received to the media.
The legislator said:”This recurring cases of kidnapping in Ankpa LGA and the recent abduction of Alh Usman Shaibu is an embarssement to the all of us – traditional institutions, stakeholders, religious leaders and the entire people of Ankpa LGA.
“This has left bad taste in our mouths. We call on the abductors to release him unharmed, the abductors should know that royalty is not what one toil with, as there are grave consequences in such act.
“I am also calling on the security operatives to beef up security around our traditional rulers, and ensure that lives and property of our people are safe, as we are approaching Christmas and new year holiday and many people are expected home to their loved ones.
“I am confident in the dogged effort of the Government of Kogi State under his Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello in it’s fight against insecurity, and I am also calling on the chairman of Ankpa LGA to immediately act on this.
“The Kogi State Government has also put machinery in motion to ensure even more stringent security network during this yuletide,”Kingsley Fanwo,the Commissioner for Information and Communications said in his comment on the abduction of the monarch.
Other members of the society who spoke with our correspondent on the described the abduction and other crimes being perpetrated in the state as most unfortunate.
Messrs Femi Ajayi, Mohammed Aminu, Kadir Aliu, all condemned the abduction and called on the security agencies in the state to tighten their belts more in not only ensuring the release of the monarch but also bring other criminal elements to book.
