The pioneer principal of Government Secondary School, Afon in Kwara state, Dr Solomon Aboyeji, has
commended the old students of the school for their unanimity of purpose, a development he noted was aimed at seeing the institution turn to “ultrbeautiful sight.”
He gave the commendation in a release he signed, a copy of which was made available to The Reporters, an online news platform in Lokoja on Monday.
Aboyeji said: My heart leaps with bounteous joy to see the ultrabeautiful sight your unanimity of purpose is turning our GSS Afon to.
“The altimate aim of teaching is to help those we teach to become individuals in a corporate entity,living in fellowship with their fellows to play a ceative and constructive part in society, using all their powers and abilities for the good of society, able to cooperate and live as members of a team.
“The result of working with others brings a feeling of comradeship, a joy and sense of power and unity in life.
“You all can now glory and brat your chest that you are a potential creative force through which constructive force, a new spirit is brought to GSS Afon as agent of progress in the new sense of the word.
“I congratulate you for this obvious and noticed achievement.I dove my heart for your unity of purpose.
“Continue with this unanimity of purpose and the Great GOD will be locating you with all the things you will need to go through this world with fullness of life, all of you, each one of you, to be able to make our world more worthwhile.”
He expressed optimism that the efforts of the old students would make “GSS Afon more known, more happily productive of Giants, more of men and women of timber and calibre who will make Nigeria great.
Our correspondent reports that some of the projects so far executed by the old students include the construction of Mini fencing, gate house, repair of examination hall, borehole,soak away, clearing of bushes around the school.
The online publication also gathered that the old students are making efforts to see that the school is included in the mega rehabilitation of schools as captured in 2021 budget of the state government, among others.
The Reporters recalls that Gss Afon,which has produced notable Nigerians making impact in all sectors of the nation’s economy, was created in 1975 by the regime of Maj.-Gen.George Agbazika Innih of the blessed memory.
