APG urges collective responsibility toward development of kogi

Almagamated Progressive Group (APG),a non political, non ethnic and religious group, has urged Well-to-do groups and associations in kogi state to champion the cause of reducing poverty in the state to the barest minimum and not to leave such burden to members of the political class alone.

The Chairman of the group, Chief Ibrahim Abdullahi Ada, gave the advice at the end of year party, Award day and lauching our maiden almanac in Lokoja on Thursday.

The Chairman said: “The development of the society should not be left to political office holders alone.

“The society has been in existence before the era of political positions, therefore, there is the need for all and Sundry to contribute their quota to the development of the society.

“The political office holders cannot meet the hundred per cent needs of every society, well – to-do individuals need to come in to assist.

“We have great enrepreneurs,
educationists,engineers,artisans among others that are very much well in their various spheres of life. So, these people too need
to give back to the society.

“You may not really have the resources, but you can contribute to the development of the society we all find ourselves in one way or the other. If the society is developed, there will be peace and progress for the good of all.

“We have several indigenes and non-indigenes of Lokoja that have one way or the other contributed to our society. Some of them employed our youths in their companies.

“Some youhs that would have probably taken to social vices have positivety engaged,they don’t have time for such again.”

He disclosed that the group was established in 2020 with like minds, friends and other progressive minds to emancipate members and communities from shackles of poverty, througn financial contribution and partictpaition of all and Sundry.

According to him, in turn.ususlly come together as one to make their input toward the overall development of the society.

“Our memtbership cuts across the nooks and crannies of Kogi state with our base in Lokoja,the state capital,”he added.

“We have been holding this end of year party yearly but this year’s party is special and unique as this is the very first time we are gathering men and women of timber and calibre to celebrate with us.

“We have also decided to launch our maiden almanac and give awards to those (10) that have impacted positively to humanity and generality of our people, to appreciate and boost their morale to encourage them to do more for the society.

Ada, who promised that APG would not relent efforts in helping its
members,urged them to remain commted toward realizing the aims and objectives of “this noble group.”
