The people of Bagana,Omala Local Government Area of Kogi state on Saturday, experienced horror and anguish as they woke up to the gruesome murder of one of their own, Suleman Abdulkasum, a security guard.
The Reporters,an online media platform, gathered that until his tragic end,Abdulkareem,who was a security guard attached to the Upper Area Court in the village, was beheaded by unknown killers on his way to farm on Saturday.
The locals described the deceased as an easy going man who maintained good relationship with others, adding that immediately news of his gruesome murder fiittered into the town, vigilantes and hunters were mobilised to the scene.
They, however, expressed regret that before the security men could get to the place,the suspected killers had disappeared to the thin air, describing the henious crime as one too many.
The people noted that many persons in the area had fallen victims of the guns and matchets of the bandits who they claimed often waylay their victims while either returning from the markets or farms.
Our correspondent further gathered that Bagana, a village with over 20,000 inhabitants, situated on the bank of River Benue and about 15 kilometres from Abejukolo, headquarters of Omala Local Government Area of the state, has been object of severally attacks by bandits for some time.
According to some of them, such dastard acts has left the area with several deaths and wanton destruction to property, disclosing that about two months ago, a traditional ruler in the village was Abducted and killed by yet to be arrested bandits and his body dumped in his farm.

“As we speak to you, we are sleeping with our eyes opened with fear of unexpected attacks.
“At the wake of the senseless killings in the town, the government deployed soldiers and mobile policemen to the town, even then,the attacks continued,” one of the locals who spoke on the condition of anonymity,said.
Besides the tragic death of Abdulkareem, the online media also gathered that a man at Abejukolo,whose identity could not be ascertained as at the time of this report, had had his limb chopped off, also by yet to identified assailants.
The victim is said to be receiving treatment at the General Hospital Abejukolo, where medical personnel are battling to save his life.
Speaking on the issue on phone, the Divisional Police officer(DPO) for the Local Government Area, DSP. John Ogbebor said upon receipt of the distress call, he drafted his men to the scene to go after the suspects, adding that they had left the scene before the arrival of his men.
The DPO, who assured that a manhunt had been launched for the suspected killers, promised that the police would not leave any stone unturned to ensure their arrest and be made to face justice.
