9 suspects in police net over killing of Nasarawa state APC Chairman

The Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, says nine suspects have been arrested over the killing of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Phillip Shekwo.

Sule made the disclosure on Friday in Lafia when he hosted members of the Trade Union Congress in thehe state capital.

According to him, the arrest of the suspects is sequel to intensified combing of the routes followed by the perpetrators, by security team.

He further revealed that the combined military team mounted four-day operations, trailing the routes where they believed killers of Shekwo followed, leading to the success of the mission.

“I am happy to inform you that the people we were suspecting, so far, anyway, nine people have been arrested and are being interrogated in connection to the killing of our Chairman,” he said.

The governor said the combined military operations killed three people in connection to the killing at the Loko Development Area of the state, adding that four AK-47 rifles were also recovered.

He also reiterated the resolve of his administration to improve the security situation in the state, stressing that security was never too expensive for his government to ensure the protection of lives and property,adding that “we have taken this seriously and will continue to do that.”

The Reporters recalls that Shekwo, who was kidnapped at his residence in Lafia last Saturday was later found dead also in Lafia and his body was deposited at the Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital, Lafia but
has been committed to mother earth in his home town, Yelwa in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.
