The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, Professor Abdullahi Bala, has urged matriculated, Affiliated and Linkages Programme students of the installation to be of good conduct by avoiding acts capable of truncating their programme and as well tarnishing the image of the university.
Bala gave advice in Minna at the matriculation of 120 students, for degree programmes of the Federal Polytechnic (FedPoly), affiliated to FUT, Minna for the 2019/2020 academic session.
The vice-chancellor,who was represented by the Director of Affiliation and Linkages, Professor Johnson Olusegun Oyefo said the need for the new intakes to be conscious of their actions and inactions became necessary to avoid hitches capable of truncating their programme.
Bida disclosed that so far, 500 students had registered for the FUT, Minna Affiliate and Linkages programme since it began last year.
While emphasizing the need for the new students to avoid people of questionable character capable of distracting them from attending to their academic works throughout their stay on campus, the Vice Chancellor encouraged them to take their studies seriously in order to graduate with best grade.
Some of the common mistakes students make while on campus, the Vice Chancellor pointed out was indulgence in examination malpractices, this according to him constitutes serious academic setback hence the need for them to avoid such pitfalls.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Abubakar Abdul Dzukogi, who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr. Sani Man-Yahaya, had earlier in a remark, assured the students well equipped facilities conducive for teaching and learning.
The Rector, therefore, called on the new students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the programme, to achieve their goals of becoming useful citizens of not only to Nigeria but the world at large.
Also speaking, the Polytechnic’s Director of Affiliation, Dr. Ndako Yahaya, acknowledged the gains so far recorded by the programme while also applauding the school management for its commitments toward the success of the affiliate programme.
Notwithstanding the numerous challenges facing school, Ndako Yahaya said the polytechnic could still boast of more students than other schools affiliated to Federal University of Technology, Minna.
