The timely intervention of the men and officers of the Police Command in Kogi state is said to have averted students riot in Lokoja kogi state capital on Wednesday.
The development is at the heels of the stark reality of #end SARS protests in some parts of the country,The Reporters,an online publication reports.
Our correspondent who visited the Polytechnic on Felele highway in lokoja, reports that some students of the institution were seen chanting songs to protest the killing of one of their own, an HND 2 student.
The deceased, whose name could not be identified as at the time of report,was said to have been killed on Tuesday night by a hit run driver,the second of its kind in less than a week on the road, according to sources.
As the tense development was enveloping, brewing into panicking and leading to possible gridlock, residents took to their heels for safety.
The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) for the command, DSP Williams Aya, told The Reporters that the command quickly dispatched its men and officers to douse the situation,adding that normalcy had returned to the area.
