Nigerian Army Education Corps officers urged to be professional

Officers of the Nigerian Army Education Corps have been advised to be professional in discharging their duties.

The Director-General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), retired Maj.-Gen. Garba Wahab, gave the advice at a four-day training for the Nigerian Army Education Corps Officers in Abuja.

He said the training was strictly to educate the officers on how to go about discharging their responsibilities as leaders of schools.

The director-general further explained that the essence of the workshop was to take the personnel through the necessary educational techniques, as leaders, to enable them discharge their responsibilities effectively.

Wahab also advised them to brace up and make the Nigerian Army schools envy of not only the personnel, but also the entire populace.

The theme of the workshop, organised by the centre in conjunction with DEVTARG Ltd., is “Improved leadership as the panacea for effective management of Nigerian Army Schools.’’

Also speaking, the Chief of Administration, Army, Maj.-Gen. Usman Yakubu, represented by Director, Personnel Services, Maj.-Gen. Lawrence Fejokwu, urged the participants to always strive for the best in whatever they do.

“There is no gain saying that education has been identified as the best and lasting legacy to be given to a child.

“It is,therefore, not surprising that the Nigerian Army places important premium on the education of their children of its officers and men,” he said.

According to him, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has a clear vision of a professional army which is being achieved through capacity building and education.

He recalled that since 2015, there had been significant efforts toward upgrading infrastructure and facilities in the Nigerian army schools as well as training of teachers.

“All these efforts were geared toward bringing back the almost lost glory of the Nigerian Army schools,’’ he added.
