The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Niger state office, has commenced the training of 100) youths in modern agriculture and marketing system under Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS).
The State Coordinator of NDE in the state, Alhaji Abdulmalik Liman Abubakar, disclosed this in an interview with Journalists in Minna on Monday.
He said that the training was part of the scheme’s effort at creating jobs for the teaming unemployed graduates in the state.
Abubakar said the beneficiaries, under the mandate establishing the NDE, would be trained to acquire skills to be self employed rather than waiting white color jobs that forthcoming in a contemporary society.
The coordinator said beneficiaries were selected from the 25 local governments of the state through job center window created to register candidates for the selection of youths, basically Secondary school leavers interested in taking farming as a life time venture.
Abubarkar emphasized that, aside the agriculture the beneficiaries would acquire basic marketing and business training, on how to make returns while they would be linked up with appropriate organizations to have access to start up capital with ease.
According to him, the training would last three months, adding that participants would start with three weeks intensive theory aspect before moving to the practical, through adoptative experimental farm set up for the Programme.
He expressed optimism that through the training, participants would be able to have a high yield from production, take out of labour market and be employers of labour.
He assured that the beneficiaries would be assisted with stipends for transportation.
