Members of the Old Students Association of Gss Afon in Kwara state have expressed concern over the deplorable condition of their alma mater and pledged commitment toward ploughing back resources toward uplifting the institution.

In the meeting, coordinated by Hajia Maimuna Nene Bashir and Dr Salman, the members gave the commitment during their virtual meeting on Thursday in which they stressed the need to solve some of the urgent infrastructure deficiencies in the school.

Duaglobalnews Correspondent, who monitored the meeting from Lokoja,Kogi state, reports that members resolved to task themselves of financial commitment toward realising their burning desire for the school.

According to the members, the need to join with hand with the government in uplifting Gss Afon from the doldrum of pathetic physical condition became imperative, noting that the school laid the solid foundation for their accomplishments in public private life.

The meeting, therefore, resolved to set up a committee to dialogue with the Commissioner for Education, with a view to including the school among educational institutionals the state government earmarked for renovation.

As at the time of this report, some members of the association donated various sums of money to be used in executing some of the immediate problems of the school.

The online publication recalls that Gss Afon was established in 1976 by the regime of the late Major-General Agbazika Innih, who was the Military Governor of Kwara State, with Chief Solomon O.Aboyeji as pioneer principal.

Members at the meeting cut across the academic community, judiciary, private sector and the media among others.
