Indication emerged on Monday that Nigeria may be on the course of getting out of the woods of COVID-19 as the country recorded 304 cases of the deadly virus per day,the lowest in two weeks.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) gave the nation the sigh of relief while rolling out statistics of the disease across the country.
According to the centre, Nigeria as August 3, has a total of 43,841 cases of the disease with 20,308 patients discharged, 22,645 patients with active cases while 888 patients have so far died from the novel Coronavirus.
Meanwhile at the global level,the disease registered over 18.9 million cases with 689,626 deaths as at the date under review.
With 61 laboratory centres across the federation, some members of the public that spoke with Duaglobalnews in Lokoja on Monday, described the lowest figure in Nigeria as a welcome development and a cause for joy.
They, however, emphasised the need for increased awareness of the reality of the disease by Nigerians, especially cynics, for the country to finally get out of woods of COVID-19, as soon as possible.
The online publication recalls that COVID-19 was first reported in Wuhan, a surbub of of China, on December 31,2019 and February 27,2020 in Nigeria respectively.
