The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Niger State Sector Command, says it is set to deploy no fewer than 1, 010 personnel to ensure hitch-,free Sallah celebrations in the area.
The deployment will includie drones for traffic control as Muslims in the state warm to join other Muslims in the world to celebrate the 2020 Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
The FRSC Sector Commander in the state,Joel Dagwa, revealed this in Minna on Tuesday in Minna while speaking with the press.
He further disclosed that the command would deploy additional patrol vehicles, three ambulances, a tow truck and power bike for road surveillance during the occasion.
Dagwa explained that the operations would be in alignment with the ongoing Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) containment operations in the state.
The sector commander said:” We have since embarked on aggressive patrols at Mokwa, Magama, Rafi, Suleja and Paikoro Local Government Areas that share borders with FCT, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kogi and Kwara states.
“We will ensure that only qualified and duly certified drivers and vehicles ply highways during and after the festivities.”
Dagwa, however, warned motorists against wrongful and dangerous overtaking, overloading, driving under the influence of alcohol and night journeys, adding that they observe speed limit.
According to him, drivers need imbibe these road culture to guard against oad road crashes during and after the Eid-el-kabir celebrations.
