As Nigerians bemoan incessant raping of female students in higher institutions in the country, a 20-year-old lady, identified as Safau Omowumi Abdulrahman,has allegedly been raped and matcheted to death at Gerewu area of Ilorin capital of Kwara state.
Reports reaching Duaglobalnews in Lokoja on Thursday, indicate that the deceased was until her death, a student of Bathelomew College of Health Technology, Shao in Moro Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased, sources revealed, until her death was doing her internship at Abebi Hospital Gerewu and temporarily lived with her uncle at Gerewu close to the hospital.
The deceased was, however, said to have left her home on Saturday, June 27,2020 at about 4p.m and she did not return home that day.
This development prompted the family to report the case to the police on Sunday, after much search for her without success.
The police was said to have found her corpse beside river at Oko-oba in Gerewu village on Sunday morning, with matchet cuts on her head in what is suspected to be a rape case.
The online publication reports that raping bacame rampart in some parts of the country in recent time, prompting peaceful demonstration by human rights activists who called on government to arrest the ugly situation.
