Ganduje Removes Lockdown, Directs Opening All Markets, Motor Parks

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has directed for the removal of lockdown in the state, while maintaining the 10p.m to 4a.m curfew due to the drastic drop in COVID-19 pandemic threats in the state and other progress in the response against the dreaded pandemic.

The development is also informed “by the Blessing of the Almighty Allah’s Divine intervention with the efforts of all the frontline workers and other stakeholders,”the governor said.

Abba Anwar, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in a statement in Kano on Thursday said the governor gave the order during the Kano State Task Force on COVID-19 media briefing, held at Africa House, Government House, Kano.

Ganduje, who also attributed his order to how the state had recorded the success in the fight against the pandemic, he acknowledged and commended the unrelenting efforts of the frontline health workers, journalists and all other stakeholders.

“The remaining 3 days the state is practicing lockdown order are now lifted but told civil servants on grade level 12 and above to resume work on Monday, July 6.

“People are now free to move around for the 7 days of a week While observing the 10p.m to 4p.m curfew,”Ganduje, “he said.

“All markets are now opened. So also motor parks. People must observe the protocols of COVID-19 as enunciated by our health professionals, “he instructed.

The governor,who reiterating that street begging had been banned, warned that only one person should be allowed on motorcycle adding that “tricycle operators must not take more than two passengers.”

On schools re-opening, governor Ganduje hinted that, “All schools will only be opened on the directive of the Federal government.

“But for final year or graduating pupils/students, like primary six pupils and students of Junior Secondary School II (JSS III) and Senior Secondary School III (SSS III), we are making preparation for their returning to schools.”
