End of terrorist activities in North in sight–Bello assures

The Chairman of the high-power security committee set by the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) who is also the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has assured that the end of terrorist activities in the North was in sight.

The chairman gave the assurance through the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, when a group, Alliance for Peace, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Lokoja.

Bello promised the bandits and terrorists in the north that they would no longer find it easy to operate in the region, now that he “is charge of the security committee of NSFG.”

According to him, time to defeat terror has come, pointing out that there shall be no hiding place for the terrorists henceforth.

Bello told the group that,”As you are aware, the North has taken a decisive position.

“The NGF under the leadership of Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has set up a high-power Committee to frontally address the security challenges in the North.

Bello said that he would capitalise on his many national and international awards for the effective security architecture that put criminals at bay in the state to bear in his new assignment.

The Kogi governor,who noted that the state used to be a stronghold of criminals before his administration came on board asserted that he had brought their activities down to the lowest ebb.

Bello, who described the Isanlu armed robbery attack ss a disappointment, told group that he had reset the security apparatus of the state to ensure that such doesn’t repeat itself, promising that pererpetrators of the henious crime would surely be brought to book.

The governor promised that he would work hard and in synergy with all committee members to ensure that the security of the whole the state is strongly rooted to boost his success in the new assignment.

In his personal comment at the occasion, Fanwo said,”To us as a state, it is a thing of pride that we have a Governor that is making us proud nationally.”

Earlier, the spokesperson of the Group, Comrade Tolulope Ige, thanked the governor for being “a Good Ambassador of the youth across the country”, adding that Bello had also brought Kogi to the limelight in national politics.

He commended the response of the Governor to the Isanlu attack and assured him that the group remained proud of him.

He said:”The governor has rewritten the history of our state and we are happy at the way he prioritized security because there cannot be development without security.

“We must get to the root of the Isanlu attack and the Governor should be rest assured that we are behind him in his fight against crimes and criminality.”
