Residents of Isanlu, Kogi West Senatorial district, are now living in fear following bank robbery attack in the town on Thursday with some casualties.

Duaglobalnews reports that the suspected armed robbers also attacked a Police Station, killed some people, including a police personnel on duty.

Reacting to the attack through his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Mohammed in Lokoja, the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yayaha Bello described the incident as “dastardly and unacceptable.”

Bello, who sympathized with the families of those who lost their lives in the attack, directed security agencies to fish out the suspected armed robbers to face the law.

The Governor said they could achieve this by strengthening surveillance and intelligence gathering.

Bello, however, urged residents of the state to assist the security operatives with useful information that could boost efforts to combat crime in the state.

The governor, who warned criminal elements in the state not to take the state’s hospitality as gateway to perpetrate their henious crime, assured the people that the state government would “protect them from the hands of criminals.”

“Our open arms is no invitation to criminals. Our first responsibility as a government is to ensure the security of lives and property in the state.

“Bank robbery was a recurrence decimal in Kogi state before the current administration. Together with all security agencies in the state, we ended the regime of this form of crime since 2017.

“We will not allow this to reverse the gains we have recorded in protecting lives and property of our people,” Bello further assured the people.
