Various NGOs and Foundations, within kogi state and beyond the shores of Nigeria, have continued to take the cross of cushioning the effects of Coronavirus induce lockdown for the people of the state through palliatives.
The latest being that of a United States of America-based foundation, Global Health and Indigent Care Foundation, which distributed rice to about 4,000 households in Ayetoro-Gbede and Igbaruku-Okeri communities in the state recently.
The traditional ruler of the town, the Olu of Ayetoro Gbede,Oba David Sunday Ehindero unveiled the distribution of rice provided by the Foundation.
Duaglobalnews reports that the foundation, owned by a Nigerian born family, Dr Sam and Mrs Lola Oloyo, executed the food outreach programme as a response to the economic dislocation prompted by the spread of Corona virus pandemic in Nigeria.
Dr Oloyo has at various times intervened in education and health sectors in Ayetoro-Gbede and adjoining communities.
He commended the traditional institution, the Ayetoro Gbede Global Network, and its President, Mr Ola Oyelola, as well as another United States of America-based compatriot, Mr Olaolu Eniolorunda for their various roles in ensuring the success of the programme.
In his address, Dr Sam Oloyo, explained that the foundation recognised the significant hardship and humanitarian crisis that people were having to contend with during this moment of ravaging Coronavirus pandemic.
He expressed the hope that the gesture would help to alleviate the pain and hardship of the people concerned.
Oba David Sunday Ehindero, who described the gesture as a ‘gigantic gift’ to the community, recalled the various health outreaches that Dr Oloyo and his foundation had conducted in Ayetoro Gbede and its environs.
The monarch also described the gifts as another proof of Dr Oloyo’s humanity and kindness and prayed for God’s blessings on the donors.
The Head of the Local Organising Committee for the distribution of the items, Richard Akanmode, explained that data of all households in the Community had been collected, to guide to the Committee in its assignment.
He commended Dr Sam Oloyo and his wife for their consistent demonstration of love for the people, the zeal and sacrifice with which they executed the programme.
The online publication reports that kogi state has not recorded any case of Coronavirus pandemic as at the time of this report.
