The SDP gubernatorial flagbearer in the Nov.16,2019 governorship election in kogi state, Barr Natasha Hadiza Akpoti, has expressed delight over the inauguration of the Presidential Project Implementation team for Ajaokuta steel project by the Federal government.
The politician, who has been in the struggle to ensure that the project becomes a reality, took to her Facebook page to congratulate the Federal Government of Nigeria on the recent constitution of the team.
The barrister said: “I congratulate the FGN on the constitution of the Ajaokuta Presidential Project Implementation Team (APPIT).
“However, I plead with Nigerians to demand utmost transparency through the disclosure of all processes by the publication of all monthly reports from the APPIT.
as a few of the team members are already compromised.
“May God guide the APPIT team.”
Akpoti has been a focal force in the Ajaokuta revival struggle. Despite intimidation from different angles of the state, Natasha stood her ground.
“Today, we are heading towards the final phase of the struggle.”
She described the inauguration as a cheering news, especially to the people of kogi state and the nation in general.
Duaglobalnews recalls that the idea of Ajaokuta steel project, believed to be the largest in Africa,was hatched about 40 years ago by the Federal government.
However, the project which has reached about 90 per cent completion, is yet to start full operation capacity due to many factors.
The Secretary to the Governent of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, inaugurated the team in Abuja on Monday.
