FCT lockdown: 5 clerics sentenced to1 month imprisonment for violating restriction order

As Nigeria joins other nations in the battle to contain the spread of the five months-old Coronavrus,five clerics in the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) have been sentenced to one month imprisonment, each, for violating the stay-at-home order made by the Federal government.

Mr Ikharo Attah, the Chairman, FCT Ministerial Taskforce Team on COVID-19 Restriction, disclosed this in a statement he availed Duaglobalnews, a Kogi-based online publication on Monday in lokoja.

According to the chairman, the clerics are: 2 Pastors, 3 Imams.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Coronavrus cases increased to 1,273 on Sunday with a singled-day discovery of 91 new cases confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC).

Of the figure, Lagos state has the highest number of confirmed cases of 43, bringing the total in that state to 173, followed by the FCT with 141 cases while Kano state maintains third position with 77 cases down the ladder.

The online publication gathered that of the 36 states and FCT, 28 states have so far recorded Coronavrus cases with the country having a total of 35 deaths.
