In what looks like blessing in disguise,the recent stormed that heralded heavy rainfall in Lokoja, capital of kogi state has provided paid jobs for hundreds of carpenters, bricklayers and plumbers, Duaglobalnews, an online medium reports.
A correspondent of the social media publication, who visited some families whose houses were destroyed in form pulling off of roofs and collapse of fences reports that this category of workers in building industry were seen either rebuilding collapsed fences, repairing roofs or putting back damaged pipes.
Our Correspondent recalls that on the heavy rain on Wednesday, the rain destroyed many houses at Gadumo, Ibaji quarters, Ganaja, Adankolo areas of the state with one casualt.
The deceased, simply known as Ogwu, who was said to have finished his NYSC few minutes, was in his shop on Diamond, at the Gadumo axis of Lokoja-Ganaja-Ajaokuta when the rain fell a heavy glass on him.
The online publication gathered the Ogwu was rushed to one of the hospitals in the area but was not attended to as the medics were demanding for police reports before they could treat him.In the process, Ogwu was said to have given up the ghost.
Though the aftermath of the rain led a 36-hour blackout in the area, some personnel of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) were also seen erecting new polls, preparation to restoring power to Lokoja.
January to March is one period an average resident of kogi state, particularly those in Lokoja, always love to hate in view of the prevailing terrible heat at that period.
Therefore, as from April or there about, respite in form rain and its corresponding friendly atmosphere comes in to make life bearable for the people.
Lokoja is one of the towns in Nigeria with high temperature which somes go up to 39-degree Celsius or more during heat time.
