Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, has warned members of staff of the ministry against failure in the discharge of their services to the state.
He gave the warning during a meeting he held with expanded management of departments ministry in Lokoja on Tuesday.
” I don’t entertain failure in the ministry under my watch”, adding that he would not spare anyone bent on scuttling his vision for the information sector in the state.
Fanwo further admonished the management team of the various departments, especially the State Newspaper Corporation, Graphic newspaper, to work as team or he would be forced to take decisive action against them.
The Graphic, he maintained, was not as it should be, noting that, “what is coming out from the paper is not our standard. We want the paper to speak to different members of the public.”
Fanwo, who also drew the attention of the staff to rumour peddling in the ministry reminded them that “any organisation built on rumour will collapse, rumour kills the spirit to deliver and affects relationship.”
The commissioner, therefore, urged the staff to guard against being a scapegoat of his reaction negative developments in the ministry.
Fanwo, who assured that he was lookout for someone to make a scapegoat said, “when we get just one person, we will use him or her as lesson to others.
The information and commissioner told the heads of the agencies not to succumb to rumour mongering, to avoid being listed as failures.
Contributing, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. P O Stephen, whom the commissioner described as “dynamic and workaholic”, called for team spirit among the staff.
He also stressed the need for all the agencies to key into the vision of the commissioner, to take the information sector of the state to enviable and greater heights.
