Yar’Adua, others bag posthumous awards

The Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA), an umbrella body of ex-students of Government College, Keffi, Nasarawa State, has awarded late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua and 10 others with posthumous awards for their positive contributions to the development of the school and the nation at large.

The Acting President General ,KOBA, Prof.Bello Salim while presenting the awards on Saturday in Keffi during the KOBA 70th anniversary, said that the awards were meant for committed members of the association who were no more alive

Salim urged members of the association to continue to make their contribution to the development of the school and Nigeria at large.

He said:” The presentation of this posthumous awards is one of the activities marking KOBA’s 70th anniversary.

” This is to honour our committed members who have provided services to the nation, Government College, Keffi and humanity in general but no more alive.

” As it is good to honour those who have distinguished themselves in providing services to the nation, this school and humanity while alive,it is in view of this association that those no more alive should be honoured too.

” The recepients are :The late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua, Maj,-Gen. Emmanuel Abisoye, our KOBA President General, Alhaji Muhammadu Chindo Yamusa 11, the late Emir of Keffi, Aper Aku, late Benue state governor,Dr Dalhatu Araf, Mr Victor Pam.

” Others are- late Abdulkadir Oniyangi, Engr. Tunde Oyelola, Barr.Musa Usman Ibrahim, Alhaji Abdul Abubakar and Engr. Sule Danladi.”

He said that the association would continue to honour members who were committed to the development of the school and the country at large.

The acting president general urged the students of the college and other students in the country to take their study with all seriousness, in order to excel in life.

Also speaking, Mr Sam Israel, the KOBA Anniversary Secretary, who is the Nasarawa State Chapter President of Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA), lauded members for the infrastructure development at the school.

He said that the students of the school would remain grateful for the gesture, adding that the service rendered by the Old boys would go a long way in boosting the standard of education in the school.

Mr Andrew Yakubu, former Managing Director, NNPC, Inuwa Jibrin, a veteran Journalist, Prof. Maikano Ari, Prof. Victor Dugga, AVM Biodun Daniel (rtd) among others attended the occasion.

Highlight of the occasion was a novelty match between the Old boys and current students of the school with the Old boys defeating the current students by 2:0.

The Old boys also presented two sets of Jersey and two balls to the school for use by the students.
