The new Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan said the commissiom intended to convince service providers to reconsider some of their charges to bring down Hajj fare.
In a statement from the Fatima Sanda Usara, Head, Public Affairs, NAHCON, Hassan disclosed this when he paid a courtesy the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja and received by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb.Zubairu Dada.
He said:“To this effect, the Hajj Savings Scheme is a gateway”,adding that “his leadership wants the best services to be provided to the pilgrims but at a reduced cost.”
The NAHCON boss said the visit was in furtherance of his familiarisation tour to stakeholders in a bid to sustain continued efforts toward improving Hajj operation in Nigeria.
The commission Chairman also said that he decided to pay the visit to the ministry, in the early days of his tenure in the consolidation of the bilateral and excellent working relationship between the two agencies.
He reaffirmed that the pilgrims stood to gain most from the existing cordial relationship between the two agencies.
Receiving the chairman and his team, including three commissioners among others,Dada congratulated the NAHCON leadership for the well-deserved appointment.
He, however, stressed the importance of cooperation between NAHCON and the ministry, in the interest of innocent pilgrims most of whom were first-timers and might not have travelled out of the country before.
“It is, therefore, a thrust to make Hajj as easy as possible for them”,he said, assuring that his door would remain open for consultation and assistance, when needed by the Commission.
He prayed Almighty Allah to make it easy for the new HAHCON leadership to succeed in the tasks ahead while promising the cooperation of the ministry for the attainment of that success.
Duaglobalnews reports that reducing Hajj fare remains one of the cardinal objectives of the Hassan-led leadership of the commission.
