Kidnapping: KSG, Police establish 2 mopol bases

Worried by the resurgence of kidnapping in the state after a respite, kogi state government said it had established two Mobile Police Squadron Bases on Obajana-Kabba road and in Okene, in partnership with the Nigeria Police.

Governor Yahaya Bello disclosed this on Wednesday when he received the Commissioner of Police in charge of Mobile Police Force, Mr Mohammed Akeera in Lokoja.

Bello, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Pham. Abdulkareem Asuku, said the state government made the move to combat crimes in partnership with the police.

He also said that the effort was part of his administration to ensure the security of life and property of the people and for the safety of travelers transiting through the state.

According to him, the two Mopol squadron bases have taken off, adding that part of their responsibilities was to mob up remnants of miscreants in those areas.

The governor assured the security agencies of government constant support to ensure the success of their assignment.

Bello commended the Police and other security agencies in the state for fighting crime, assuring them that he would doing everything within the law to ensure that the state remain peaceful for the people and to attract investors to the state.

Earlier, Akeera commended the governor for being proactive in his response to security matters and thanked him for the logistics and other support to security agencies in the state.

Duaglobalnews recalls that no fewer than 16 persons were kidnapped in the state;4 on Kabba-Obajana road, in the western flank and 12 on Itobe road, eastern flank of the state last Sunday.
