LASEMA identifies man that plunges into Lagoon

The 22-year-old Daibo Toju Davies, residing at 17 Sosanya Street, Gbagada Soluyi, Lagos was the person that committed suicide by jumping into Lagoon, according to LASEMA.

The agency said Davies contacted an Uber driver who picked him from Mercy Hospital, and were driving inward Adeniji Adele on the Third Mainland when, Davies informed the Uber driver that he had stomach upset.

At this juncture, the was said to have stopped the car at Davies’ request, after which Davies opened the car door and took a plunge into the lagoon.

The agency response team, with the Lagos Fire Service and Marine Rescue team are said to be search him for the remains of Davies.

.“Seafarers rescue team of the Marine unit are in fervent search for the suicide victim who jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge,” said Femi Oke-Osanyintolu.

Suicide is a regular occurrence in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest commercial city with an estimated population of 22 million residents.

Duaglobalnews recalls that a medical doctor in Lagos, who was said to have been disturbed by his failure to pass his medical examination,aimed at strengthing his expertise, also plunged into the same lagoon about three years ago.

Speaking with our correspondent in Lokoja on the suicide in the country, a psychologist, Mr Taiwo Owolabi said suicide had never solved man’s psycho-social problems.

“The best solution, whenever somebody suffers from psycho-socially related challenge is to approach the experts for lasting outcome rather than taking one’s life inimical to what God abhors.

“Nobody has the right to terminate his or her life,it is a bad development even in sight of God,”he stressed.
