An appeal has gone to youths in kogi state to take their studies seriously and stop believing that poverty is the basis for their failure in life.
The Chief of staff to the Governor of kogi state, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, gave the advice while speaking on memory lane, his experience in life.
He said though he came from a very poor family background,he refused to be weighed down by such fate as he faced his academic pursuit with all seriousness to achieve his desired goal.
Asuku, who regretted that he lost his only brother in 1977, due to poverty, said he had to pass through harship in life to achieve his educational ambition by dint of hardwork.
The chief of staff, himself a youth and a product of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with degree in pharmacy, said he emerged as one of the best grauduating students of during his time.
According to Governor Yahaya Bello’s aide, he decided to tell his life experience to fellow youths to stress the fact that poverty should not be an excuse for failure.
He thankef the goverbor for finding him worthy for the appointments he had so far held.
Duaglobalnews reports that Asuku’s advice came on the heels of increased number of youths getting involved in crime and criminality such as kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, financial fraud among others in the state.
Recently, the Police Command in the state paraded some suspects in their 20s and 30s, who have been making life unbearable for peace-loving residents of the state.
Poverty remains a shouting factor among reasons many youths in crime usually give as the basis for indulging in crime.
About two weeks, Bello invited heads of tertiary institutions in the state during which he gave them stern warning to arrest cultism in their institutions or get the boot.
