Ibadan
Any personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC),Oyo State Command, caught receiving bribe from motorists risks losing his or her job, the Sector Command,Mrs Uche Chukwurah handed down the warning on Sunday in Ibadan.

Chukwurah issued the stern warning during the thanksgiving service organised by the Corps at St.David’s Anglican Church, Ibadan, for successes recorded by the command in 2019.

Chukwurah reminded officers and men of the command that the sanction for any personnel guilty of receiving bribe remained termination of appointment, upon trial.

“The givers and the receivers are always guilty. If the general public learn not to give them, they will not collect,” she stressed.

She told motorists to be courageous enough to challenge officers as to know why they should collect money from them while their discharging the job they were being paid for by government.

“If you give them money, you are also encouraging them to do the wrong thing,”Chukwurah said.

The sector commander, therefore, called on members of the public not to give bribe to any officer of the command.

The FRSC boss in the state said the event was organised to appreciate God for what He has done for the commsnd in 2019.

It will be recalled that no fewer than 32 officers and men of the command were elevated to their next ranks last week.

She disclosed that no officer was knocked down throughout the end of year “operation zeo”that ended Jan.19, adding that 192 officers also got promoted.

Chukwurah expressed the resolve of the command toward reducing road crashes to the barest minimum.

The Vicar, St. Anglican Church,Ijokodo,Ibadan,Ven. Abiodun Bolaji, in his sermon, called on the officers and men of the command to remember God at all times.

The cleric prayed for God’s continue support and upliftement of the personnel of the command in the discharge of their responsibility to the public.
