The Nigeria Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) nationwide, demanding the immediate reconciliation and settlement of outstanding pension balances owed some of its members.
Our correspondent reports that the directive, conveyed through a letter from the union’s National Secretariat, Abuja,underscores growing frustration among some CPS pensioners over delays in accessing their entitlements.
Engr. Olayemi Solomon, Chairman of NUPCPS in Kogi State, disclosed this in a statement shared on the union’s social media platform and available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Tuesday.
He explained that the decision was reached during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union held in Abuja on March 25, 2026.
Solomon revealed that Chief Executive Officer of Premium Pension attended the meeting the same day, where she made appeals and offered explanations, assuring members that steps would be taken to address their concerns.
“All our members that belong to Premium and that submitted their complaints, we used the opportunity to submit their letters and hopefully we are expecting positive reply.
“Let us wait and see how God is going to help us,” he said.
Meanwhile, concerns over the plight of retirees had earlier taken centre stage at the NUPCPS Thanksgiving Conference held at the National Women Development Centre, Abuja, on March 24, 2026.
At the event, the National Chairman of NUPCPS, Comrade Sylva Nwaiwu, decried what he described as unnecessary delays in the payment of pension increment arrears, as well as the unjust treatment of retirees by PFAs.
“We call for the intervention of the federal government in this matter, or our members who have been denied payment after funds have been released since November 2025, will turn the premises of PFAs as their homes until they are paid,” he warned.
Responding, the Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM), Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, stated that the Federal Government had already settled all arrears owed to CPS retirees across the country.
