The academic community of Kogi State Polytechnic was on Thursday enveloped in grief as a routine lecture turned into a moment of tragedy, leaving students and staff in shock and disbelief.
Our correspondent gathered that what began as an ordinary day of learning ended in sorrow with the sudden death of a dedicated lecturer, Mr. Anselm Ahman Victory Ojodomo, who collapsed while teaching.
Eyewitnesses said the late lecturer was in the middle of his lecture, engaging his students with the same passion and commitment he was known for, when he suddenly slumped.
At first, confusion filled the classroom as students struggled to understand what had just happened.
Within moments, panic set in as it became clear that something was terribly wrong.
Students, many of whom looked up to him not just as a teacher but as a mentor, were left visibly shaken.
Some reportedly broke down in tears, while others stood frozen, unable to process the heartbreaking scene before them.
The lecture hall, once alive with academic exchange, fell into an eerie silence interrupted only by cries of distress.
Colleagues who spoke about the late Ojodomo described him as a man deeply committed to his profession, one who believed in shaping lives through knowledge and guidance.
They recalled his tireless efforts in mentoring students, often going beyond the classroom to ensure they succeeded.
To them, his death is not just a loss to the institution, but to the future of many young minds he inspired.
Across the polytechnic, the news spread quickly, casting a heavy cloud over the campus.
Lectures were disrupted, conversations turned solemn, and groups of students gathered in quiet corners, reflecting on the life of a man who, until his final moment, was doing what he loved most, teaching.
In death, Mr. Ojodomo leaves behind not only grieving family, colleagues, and students, but also a powerful, painful reminder of the fragility of life.
His final moments, spent in the service of education, will remain etched in the hearts of those who witnessed them, a poignant symbol of dedication, sacrifice, and a life devoted wholly to others.
