The Chairman of the Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan Ali, has been appointed as a Permanent Secretary in the Katsina State Civil Service.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda ratified the appointment on Tuesday, alongside two other top civil servants: Junaidu Muntari from Kankara Local Government Area and Yahaya Abdullahi from Safana Local Government Area.
The announcement was conveyed in a statement signed by the Head of the Civil Service, Mallam Falalu Bawale.
The elevation of the sitting NUJ Chairman to the peak of the civil service career ladder is expected to trigger a leadership transition within the state’s union council, as the roles of laboir leader and government policy enforcer are constitutionally distinct.
According to the Head of Service, the appointments were not political compensation but the result of a rigorous selection process. Mallam Bawale disclosed that Dan Ali and his colleagues emerged successful after a merit-based examination conducted by the Public Service Institute of Nigeria.
“The selection process underscores the administration’s commitment to competence and professionalism,” Bawale stated. “Ongoing reforms in the civil service are anchored on meritocracy, performance, and integrity.”
The appointments take immediate effect.
