The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagun, has expelled Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and eight other prominent members over alleged anti-party activities.

Those affected by the sweeping sanction include PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN; Mohammed Abdulrahman; Mao Ohuabunwa; Austin Nwachukwu; George Turner; Abraham Amali; Bature; and Dan Orbi.

In addition to the expulsions, the party also dissolved the executive committees in Rivers, Abia, Imo, Plateau, and Enugu states, signaling a major clean-up within its ranks.

The decisive actions came during the ongoing PDP Elective National Convention in Ibadan, on Saturday where Chief Bode George, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), moved the motion for the expulsion. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State proposed the dissolution of the state executives.

Both leaders cited Section 33, Subsection 2 of the PDP Constitution (2017) as the basis for their motions, which were adopted by the convention in what has been described as one of the most dramatic moments in recent party history.
