The Kogi State Police Command has joined the global celebration of the 2025 Customer Service Week with a strategic stakeholders’ engagement in Lokoja aimed at deepening collaboration and enhancing public trust in policing.
The event brought together community leaders, transport unions, hoteliers, youth groups, and civil society organizations to assess police performance and share feedback on ways to improve service delivery and community safety.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police,CP. Miller G. Dantawaye, said the Command remains committed to effective law enforcement, crime prevention, and protection of citizens’ rights, stressing that community policing remains the best approach to achieving the mission of the Force.
“We are determined to make policing more people-centered. Constructive feedback from the public helps us refine our operations and deliver quality service,” he stated.
Dantawaye urged residents to report police misconduct through appropriate channels rather than social media, assuring that the Command would act promptly on genuine complaints.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 8, Lokoja, AIG Abubakar Zubairu, commended residents for their cooperation and described them as “police officers in plain clothes,” emphasizing the importance of community participation in ensuring peace and security.
Traditional rulers, including HRH Abdullahi Idris, the Chief of Jimgbe, and stakeholders from NURTW, NARTO, TOAN, the Hoteliers Association, and the PCRC, commended the Police for their engagement efforts and pledged continued partnership through intelligence sharing and joint crime prevention initiatives.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, in a statement he sent to The Reporters on Friday,described the event as a reaffirmation of the Police’s commitment to accountability and service excellence.
“Customer Service Week offers us an opportunity to listen, learn, and improve. Our goal is a Police service the people can trust,” he added.
