The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole, says he receives with shock and sadness ” the sudden demise of the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Honourable Justice Nasir Ajanah which occurred this morning after a brief illness.”Â
Kokawole, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Femi Olugbemi in Lokoja on Sunday described Justice Ajanah’s demise as devastating, adding that it was painful for the state to lose yet another great personality in the legal world.
According to him, Ajanah’s death at this time is a colossal loss to the entire nation.
He described the late chief judge as a courageous outstanding legal luminary and administrator who consistently upheld the rule of law which had made the state to stand out among the comity of states in terms of Judiciary in Nigeria.
He sympathized and condoled with the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Government of Kogi State, the deceased’s immediate family and the Government and people of Okene Local Government over the demise of Ajanah.
He described the deceased as father, illustrious son and outstanding legal luminary, stressing that he would be greatly missed.
He said it was disheartening and painful to lose such a great mind that devoted all his life to the service of the state in the Judiciary.
Kokawole pointed out that the chief judge’s demise had created a great vacuum that would be hard to fill.
The Speaker,who noted that “death is an expected end of every mortal”, enjoined the Ajanahs to take solace in the words of God which say that” for everything under the sun, there is a time; a time to be born, and a time to die.’
He urged the bereaved family to uphold their son’s legacy of truthfulness, hard work, tolerance and boldness.
“Prince Matthew Kolawole, on behalf of the 7th Assembly, management and staff of the Kogi State House of Assembly wishes to commiserate with the immediate family of Hon. Justice Nasir Ajanah, Kogi State Judiciary, Kogi State Government,” Olugbemi said.
He qouted the speaker as also condoliing the “Government and people of Okene Local Government on the death of their illustrious son and father, praying that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace.”
Duaglobalnews recalls that Justice Ajanah, a product of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, died in Gwagwalada on Sunday during an illness at the age 64.
