The Vice-President of Nigeria,Kashim Shettima, says the Federal Government will create a more enabling environment for investors and leverage the ongoing industrial revolution to achieve the proposed $1 trillion economy.

Shettima stated this on Tuesday in Ota at the 2025 Ota Investment Summit and Trade Fair, themed “Industrial Revolution: Potential and Opportunities from Ota to the Rest of the World.”

Represented by his Special Adviser on Economic Affairs, Dr. Tope Fasua, the Vice-President described the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a comprehensive blueprint for national rebirth.

“It is a bold pact with the Nigerian people, premised on the belief that our nation must reach its full potential. The planned $1 trillion economy is both audacious and eminently achievable,”he said.

Shettima stressed that the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline, a business-friendly climate, and the removal of bureaucratic bottlenecks was aimed at enabling the private sector, driven by visionary entrepreneurs and investors,to power economic growth and job creation.

“The rebased Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was not merely a statistical update. It shows that our economy is not just a story of oil and gas, but a rich tapestry woven with technology, financial services, and a booming agricultural value chain,” he added.

The VP urged Nigerians to partner with the Federal Government in building a new industrial revolution that would create wealth, empower citizens, and generate jobs for the youth.

The Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, in his opening remarks, said the success of the Ota Industrial Belt was the result of decades of strategic investment, infrastructure development, and the vision of determined entrepreneurs.

According to him, Ota’s proximity to global shipping routes, airports, skilled labour, and raw materials has made it a magnet for industrial expansion.

The traditional ruler noted that while the Federal Government’s $1 trillion economic target was ambitious, Ota could be a major driver of that goal through infrastructural upgrades and sustained investor confidence.

“Ota Industrial Belt can significantly boost Nigeria’s GDP through increased manufacturing for domestic and export markets, greater foreign direct investment, the expansion of SMEs into regional value chains, and massive job creation,” Obalanlege said.

The Chairman of the Ota Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Kayode Bowale, called for stronger public-private partnerships in road infrastructure to fast-track community development and industrial growth.

He also urged Nigerians to patronise locally-made goods and services to strengthen the economy.

Our correspondent reports that the trade fair featured more than 18 exhibitors from various sectors.
