The Ohinage-Irgu of Kotonkarfe, His Royal Majesty Dr. Saidu Akawu, has called on members of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association, Kogi State Branch, to accept the postponement of their upcoming Gala and Awards Ceremony as an act of God.

The first-class traditional ruler made this remark on Sunday while receiving a delegation of the association’s executive members at his palace in Kotonkarfe.

Led by the branch chairman, Engr. Abdulsalam Mohammed Sagir, the team visited the monarch to formally inform him of the postponement of the event earlier scheduled for July 26, 2025, and to explain the reasons behind the shift.

Dr. Akawu, a respected member and former chairman of the ABU Alumni Association, Kogi Branch, expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the executives for their transparency.

He offered prayers for the successful planning and hosting of the event at a later date.

In his remarks, Engr. Sagir apologized for the inconvenience the postponement may have caused, noting that the decision was due to earlier financial constraints, logistical concerns, and slow responses from some of the awardees.

He assured the royal father that a new date was being considered and would be communicated to him in due course.

The highlight of the visit was a group photograph with the traditional ruler and an exchange of warm pleasantries, reflecting the cordial relationship between the association and the palace.
