An educationist, Mr. Kazeem Aina, has called on parents to dedicate quality time to their children to help mould them into responsible and productive members of society.
Aina, who is also a parent, gave the advice on Wednesday during the 2025 Graduation and Prize-Giving Day ceremony of Adedokun International Schools, held at Gasoline, Ijoko, Ota, Ogun State.
He emphasised that family time is essential for the holistic development of children.
“There is no better way to nurture a child’s growth than by spending quality time with them. It is vital for their emotional, social, and mental development,” he said.
According to him, quality time fosters secure emotional bonds, improves communication skills, and builds self-esteem in children.
“It’s not just about being physically present; it’s about being emotionally available—engaging in meaningful conversations, shared activities, and expressions of love and care,” Aina noted.
He warned that children who lack such engagement from their parents are more vulnerable to low self-worth and may be easily influenced into negative behaviours such as crime, substance abuse, and cultism.
In her remarks, the Proprietress of the school, Alhaja Romoke Adedokun, urged the graduating pupils and students to uphold the moral and academic values instilled in them by the school.
“Do not deviate from the values you have received. Remember, success is not final and failure is not fatal—it is the courage to continue that counts,” she advised.
Adedokun also appreciated parents and guardians for their consistent support over the years and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic education.
“We will continue to nurture our students morally, academically, physically, and spiritually because we believe they are the future of this great nation,” she said.
Our correspondent reports that 84 students graduated from the institution comprising 34 from nursery, 21 from primary, and 29 from Junior Secondary School (JSS 3).
