Late Muhammadu Buhari.

The government and people of Kogi State have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications in Lokoja on Sunday, Kingsley Fanwo, the state described the death of the former President as a monumental loss, not only to Nigeria but to the African continent and the world at large.

The statement extolled President Buhari as a leader of quiet strength, unwavering convictions, and a patriotic spirit wholly committed to the unity, progress, and stability of Nigeria.

Reacting to the development, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, described the news as a moment of national grief and a solemn reminder of the enduring legacy of discipline, integrity, and sacrifice that Buhari embodied.

According to Governor Ododo, the late President played a pivotal role at critical moments in Nigeria’s history, steering the ship of state with a deep sense of responsibility and purpose.

“President Buhari was not a man of many words, but his actions consistently reflected his vision for a better, safer, and more self-reliant Nigeria,” the Governor said.

He noted that Kogi State will remember the former President for his unwavering commitment to critical infrastructure development, national security, and the fight against corruption.

Governor Ododo added that the late statesman laid a solid foundation upon which successive administrations, both at the national level and in Kogi State, continue to build.

“We stand in solidarity with the government and people of Katsina State, the family of the late statesman, and indeed all Nigerians as we mourn a patriot who gave his all in service to the nation,” the statement added.
